Welcome

This is truly an exciting time for all of us, as we establish traditions, customs, and culture for Fairfax High School students, now, and for generations to come.

As we look toward the future, we are committed to establishing academic excellence at Fairfax by providing an environment in which all students will be successful in meeting and exceeding Arizona state academic standards and graduation requirements, while also facilitating access to the college preparatory courses of the International Baccalaureate program curriculum.  Moreover, we firmly believe that along with high academic expectations for our students, it is essential that we develop the whole child by instilling a strong character foundation, while fostering a connection to our school by encouraging participation in extra-curricular activities and athletics.  Research has proven that students who build a strong relationship with their school, while being challenged with high academic rigor, demonstrate better attendance and behavior. In addition, those students also attend and graduate from college at a higher rate than their counterparts.

It is critical and expected that our parents and guardians are also actively involved in their child’s educational development.  As a support mechanism for this, we provide early and frequent contact updates on your child’s academic, attendance, and social progress throughout the school year.  In addition, I strongly encourage all of our parents and guardians to join our parent-teacher organization (PTO) as a means of building an important connection to our school community.  This group meets the second Tuesday of each month (beginning in September) at 6:00 p.m. in the library. Please make a commitment to your student and join us in contributing to the development and growth of our school.

We look forward to working with you as we build the foundation of student success now and into the future.

Warm regards,

Dr. Zachary J. Muñoz
