Demko Media Center & Library

The library is ready for students and the start of another exciting school year here at Carl Hayden High School. We just received over 1,000 new books and they are ready for student use. Our staff is excited to serve our new and returning students. We would like to remind them that we have only 3 rules here in the library. First, students are expected to respect the right of the other students to have a reasonably quite place to study. Second, IDs must be worn at all times and third, no food or drinks are allowed in the building. Of course, all other school rules must be followed.

The library is open from 7AM through 3:30PM daily. Also, on most Saturdays the library is open from 8AM through 12PM and involved with AIMS tutoring. While the facility is open mainly for students needing extra help with AIMS, we also welcome other students who just need research materials, computer access or simply more time doing homework. There are Math, Reading and English teachers on duty during this time to help all students. We are not open on Saturdays during three day weekends and other holidays which fall on Saturday.
When students come to the library at Hayden they can expect to be in a full service facility with over 100 computers, 35,000 books and an array of contemporary magazines. The Phoenix Union High School District also provides a full complement of databases for student and teacher use. The databases are top of the line products that are designed to give our students the skills they will need to have when they make the transition to college, career and life.
