The mission of South Mountain High School is to create a community of learners who are productive citizens in an ever-changing society.

South Mountain High School offers a stimulating and supportive environment where students are challenged to meet high academic and behavioral statndards.  This setting is created using a shared decision-making process.  Programs, practices, procedures and policies are continually formulated and evaluated against the established mission, beliefs, and guiding principles of the school.

All staff members acknowledge and support each other's contributions in educating our students.  Administratove resources champion quality instruction which emphasizes the process of learning how to learn through effective teaching methods that address the individual needs of all students.

SMHS students are prepared for the challenges of the 21st century.  They are independent thinkers and productive citizens who are actively involved in and responsible for their own learning.  In addition, they have the necessary technical, interpersonal, critical thinking, and content knowledge skills amd processes for success.  Staff, parents, and community ensure that SMHS graduates are equipped to make positive contributions in a highly-competitive global society.
